PIR Boards (Polyisocyanurate)
Polyisocyanurate, also referred to as PIR or Polyiso Boards, is essentially an improvement on polyurethane (PUR). Two advantages of polyisocyanurate over polyurethane are that it is more fire-resistant and has a slightly higher R-value.
There are a number of different manufactures of Polyisocyanurate boards. Pawlings Insulation can supply any of the follwoing makes:
QuinnTherm Ballytherm Kingspan XtraTherm Recticel
Advantages
- Conveniently sized boards for handling indoors
- Easy to cut boards to fit in most spaces
- Provides reliable long term energy savings for buildings
- Excellent dimensional stability
- No thermal bridging at floor edges
- Tightly butted joints for insulation continuity
Rockwool
Rockwool Rockfloor is a tissue faced high compressive strength slab designed to meet both Part E (Acoustic) and new Part L (2006) thermal regulations. The Rockfloor range offers a unique economic dual density thermal insulation for ground floors and acoustic insulation for separating floors.
Rockfloor Insulation can be supported on concrete slabs (ground bearing and suspended etc) along with a range of other floor types. The unique dual density Rockfloor enables it to be laid over a slightly uneven subfloor with the lower density absorbing imperfections and the high density surface providing excellent point load resistance. Rockfloor can be placed over or under the oversite slab. If placed under the slab an up-stand of Rockfloor perimeter edge insulation must be placed around the perimeter to prevent cold bridging.
The Rockfloor range offers both rebated and square edge options.
